What is a Product Recall? How Consumers Are Notified of a Product Recall? Safety recalls will always be notified by mail, but sometimes also by email, text message, or app alert. Read the recall instructions carefully. If a recall is issued with a “DO NOT DRIVE” warning, take the warning seriously. The vehicle may need to be towed to a repair center or repaired at your home or business. The manufacturer may offer an extended warranty for the affected parts or system.
